Youth Badminton (7-17 years)

Youth Club - edited

Wyvern Dragons Badminton Club has several Youth Badminton Sessions on Friday evenings based at either at Wyvern Technology College, Fair Oak, Eastleigh or at The Hamble School, Hamble-le-Rice Southampton

Our aim is to coach youth players in the sport of badminton and to develop players in all aspects of the game. The main objective of each session is to ensure each player has fun! We promote attitudes towards respect and fair play throughout the club. We have a wide diversity of playing abilities amongst our members, from total beginners to experienced players. We will encourage you if you wish to train harder and learn more skills but also if you wish to enjoy the game and just have fun! We also offer 1-2-1 coaching during the session to develop specific techniques and to develop the individual player. Badminton is great sport, it develops racket skills, hand/eye coordination, team work and is a sport that you can take into later life. New players, from beginners upwards are always welcome! Coaches also have spare rackets to use if required.

In addition to helping young badminton players enjoy the game, we organise competitions with other local clubs. There are regular opportunities to enter competitions run by Hampshire Badminton at the Westgate Centre in Winchester and at some other leisure centres, with some of our members playing in competitions in Southampton and Portsmouth over the last year.

The year is broken into three fourteen week terms, which is usually run alongside the school timetable. The first session is a free trial to decide if the club and sport is for you!

Through our affiliation to Badminton England, Wyvern Dragons Badminton Club is fully insured for third-party claims in the event of accidents that occur during training sessions and matches. In order to ensure the protection of its members, Wyvern Dragons does not play matches at unaffiliated clubs.
